Pure were privileged to be a part of a World War I memorial event at West Derby school last Thursday and Friday. Having worked with their Year 10 drama students recently, and enjoyed the beautiful campus and warm welcome we received, we were happy to go back in to lead the devising of a WWI drama with boys for Years 7 to 9.
It was a great opportunity to both advance the boys drama skills, as well as teach them more on the significance of World War I and its continuing impact to the present day. After a hectic couple of days, we were so pleased with how the boys delivered their final performance, a series of scenes linking between the present day and 1914, showing the impacts on and emotions of young men in wartime Britain through a combination of drama and physical theatre.
It was a pleasure to be part of a school remembering such a significant event, and we hope to return again in the future.
